What is tire homologation?

Homologation is the process of bringing tires, usually of a specially selected model, to achieve optimal or high parameters when used on specific car models.

That is, the automaker and tire manufacturer select a certain tire model for a specific brand of car and can even modify it for use on these cars.

Homologated tires have a special additional marking, which indicates either the brand of the car or the manufacturer.

At the same time, sometimes such homologated tires can be used on other cars, and sometimes not. The same with cars - individual sports cars are strongly recommended to be equipped only with homologated, specific tires. Nevertheless, it is still a recommendation and the last word remains with the motorist.
